Alloy eagle with one prong repaired and one missing however the eagle sits perfectly in place. Silver wash alloy wreath with three piece national tricolour cockade with black alloy base ,alloy roundel and red wool centre. Blackened patent leather chinstrap with adjustment buckles and sheet metal buttons holding it in place. Vulcanfibre visor with raised lip at front. Cap interior is lined with tan rayon cloth with celluloid diamond complete and intact. Maker details to cloth lining beneath diamond in gilt letters.
The tan leather sweatband is complete but cracked at front centre and corner of visor. Interior of sweatband has stamped Art Regt markings. Several small holes to rear crown of cap and some wear to rear bottom edge beneath waffenfarbe. |

(Code: 2680) | | Named to NCO Eberhard Rottmaier .He trained as clerk and telephone operator and served DEC 41-MAY 45 with Cable Platoons of Fest.Nachr.Stab 8 and till Feb 42 was based in Offenburg in S.W. Germany until being transferred to Western France. After June 44 Normandy invasion the unit returned to the Saar Region of Western Germany .
Included are six documents regarding his stay in France after the war as a POW. His Dogtag with original string attached. A photograph of him with his wife/girlfriend. The Soldbuch dated 12.3.40 is well filled in with passphoto. His Wehrpass is a replacement issued one and dated 29.9.44,the photograph has been removed. Two double sided maps in German language with maps of Dumfries, Durham, Kingston Upon Hull, Lanark and Lancaster. He was entitled to the West Wall medal.

All period stitched. Front slash pockets with two brown bakelite buttons. Two rear pockets ,one minus its button. Inside white cotton lining has four bakelite buttons, all matching brown except one that is maker stamped. Rear straps for braces have matching bakelite buttons. Leg zips are working and maker stamped. Some very minor wear otherwise excellent condition.
