Gilt-bronze medal with obverse with a radiant rising sun bearing the date ‘1912' and the Monastery of Gračanica in background, a field gun and limber below, encircled by a laurel wreath and the inscription ‘Kosovo Avenged’, signed maker mark.Reverse with royal Serbian eagle and coat of arms encircled by a laurel wreath, the leaves inscribed with the fields of battle of the War  ‘Kumanovo, Skopje, Prilep, Jedrene, Veles, N. Pazar, Debar, Shtip, Prizren, Mrdare’ and  ‘Bitol, Skadar, Ochrid, Sjeniza Dojran, Ljesh, Tetovo, Drach, Elbasan and Prishtina’; . The medal was instituted on 31 October  1913 to be awarded to military and civilians who had participated in the First Balkan War of 1912-13. The War was  an alliance of Serbia, Montenegro, Greece and Bulgaria against the Ottoman Empire.The Medal is becoming hard to find. V.G.C.
