|SS Galizien M43 NCO's tunic which we acquired 30 years ago from a Galizien veteran who lived in Edinburgh, and stayed in Scotland after his capture during WW2. When we acquired the tunic from him, it had only the single Galizien collar patch, all other insignia had been removed. The tunic itself is the army pattern which was frequently worn by SS volunteer units. We completed the tunic with original SS artillery shoulder straps and rank tab. We also added the eagle and Galizien arm shield which at the time we thought original however since these were pre -internet additions we have since found out the eagle and shield are 'apparently' very good copies. The eagle is machine woven as is the Galicia armshield featuring a lion with three crowns. The rank collar tab is black wool construction with a single stamped alloy rank pip positioned on the center and single rank tress. Machine embroidered Galician lion collar tab shows much wear to wool around lion.Tunic comes with matching hard to find army M40 combat trousers, two pocket buttons are missing and the trousers have been shortened which was quite common.
Tunic shows usual wear for combat tunic particularly on inside where neck collar has rubbed.Interior is lined with grey artificial silk and the right front tail skirt lining has a field dressing pocket with a single button closure. The lining also has two vertical grey straps with stitched eyelets positioned to the reverse of the exterior belt support hook eyelets.
Trousers have size stamps to interior and maker stamp 'J.P. Mayer'.Four bakelite black buttons and one alloy button to front closure. There are 8 alloy buttons to waist.Rear has pocket with bakelite button closure.Adjustment size straps with two prong claw buckle that is maker marked 'PRIMA' Trousers are in excellent condition which is rare as most were worn out.
