Fitted in aircraft as an aid to navigation. It would home into a radar ground beacon known as 'Eureka' or 'BABS'(Beam Approach Beacon Signal) and the navigator would have his range to target continously displayed . Used initially for dropping supplies to Resistance units in Occupied Europe, then for dropping Airborne Forces and supplies .Also used for blind bombing, airfield approach and as a blind landing aid.
