Kriegsmarine M42 pattern single decal coastal artillery helmet. Field grey painted helmet with gold Kriegsmarine decal to left side. Leather part of liner is missing. Alloy inner band is maker stamped with 1940 dated chinstrap. Split pins remain untouched and straight. Maker stamp is difficult to identify but appears to be ET66 or EF66 on inner side of helmet ,the lot number is also present to inner rear but again hard to make out. The helmet has been untouched since WW2 and was brought back by a Royal Marine Commando who was a Lewis gunner on one of the three landing crafts that provided cover for the other landing craft on D-Day.
Also included are his Certificate of service in the Royal Marines, Royal Marines sweetheart brooch in box signed to his mother, Combined Operations patch,1st class machine gunner badge, and his marksman qualification badge. Photocopied paperwork included.
